William "Bill" Joseph Hackworth, a devoted family man and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Huntersville, NC, on October 1, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on December 31, 1934, in Lexington, KY, he was the son of the late Joseph Hackworth and Mildred Gumm.
William, known for his unwavering dedication to his country, served with honor in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on April 6, 1954. His commitment to service and his love for his family were the cornerstones of his life.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sally Bradley Hackworth, and his grandson, Joseph Casey Hackworth. William is survived by his loving children: son Joseph Dean Hackworth, and daughters Lydia Hackworth, Cassy Hackworth, and Sandra Hackworth. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: granddaughters Lara Kirkland and Amy Shaw Hackworth, and grandsons Christopher Parsons and Joshua Parsons. Additionally, he is survived by his dear sister, Alice Turner.
A graveside service to honor William's life will be held at The Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, reflecting William's enduring support for his fellow servicemen and women.
William Joseph Hackworth will be remembered for his steadfast loyalty, his gentle spirit, and his deep love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
