Samuel E. White was born 17 September 1944 in Matoaka, West Virginia. He was the oldest of five.
Sam went into the Army at the age of 18 and served in Germany along the Berlin Wall.
He met his wife, Harriet, in Chicago in 1970 and they were married shortly thereafter.
They moved to Thomasville in 1979 and made North Carolina home for nearly 50 years. Sam worked as a tool and die maker for Fairchild before retiring in 2003. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and metal detecting during retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Harriet B. White; son, Matthew White (Dona); granddaughter, Samantha (PJ); grandson, Caden (Maylie); and great granddaughter, Abigale Rose Hensley.
A private memorial will be held for family and close friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude in Sam’s name.
