Paul ‘David’ Prince, (Wrooster) 63, of Denton, went home to Jesus early Saturday morning, May 03, 2025. He passed peacefully of natural causes, while fishing at the lake with family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service, to honor the life of P David Prince will be at Transformation Church at 455 Freewill Circle in Lexington, Monday, May 12th at 6:30 pm. Service will be led by Pastor Andy Clarke. The family will receive and visit with friends prior to the service from 4:30-6:00 pm at the church fellowship hall next door.
Mr. Prince was born September 25, 1961 in Davidson County, NC to Clifford Jacob Prince and Helen Louise Killian Prince. David was the sixth of 10 children. His siblings have often found much pleasure in recalling the comical and cherished memories of growing up in a larger family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Cynthia Prince and Cheryl Beecher; brother Ricky Prince, and nephew Holland Prince.
Left to cherish his memories are his two children with Tammy G Prince and their families; his daughter, Melanie Jemison (David) of Lake Charles, LA; his son, Bradley Prince (Morgan) of Midway; bonus granddaughter Mya Rae Jemison of Lake Charles, LA; grandsons Lane and Luke Prince of Midway; also his brothers Gary Prince (Patsy, deceased) of Lexington, Henry (Hank) Prince (Tonya) of Clemmons, Kyle Prince of Michigan, and step brother Terry Howard; sisters Charlotte Bull (Johnny Arrowood, deceased), Tammy Lomax (Randy), Missey Prince all of Lexington; stepmother Margaret Thomas Prince of SC; his companion of several years, Cindy Adcox of Denton; 12 nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and nephews, and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves many other family members, friends and neighbors who will sadly miss him.
David grew up in Davidson County and attended the Lexington City Schools. He enjoyed the country life, and left his family and friends with many cherished memories. David had a few professions throughout his life. He started working as a curb boy with Speedy’s BBQ as a young teenager. He could always come up with some fascinating stories about his younger years while working there. Then he ventured out to tending cattle on a dairy farm and he learned all about growing a garden which gave him much joy. He found much comfort in camping, fishing, and tinkering with motors, the greasier the better.
David spent many years serving his Lord and Savior and enjoyed many hours chaperoning youth activities while active with his church. He was happy to share what the Gospel meant to him and to share with others the Plan of Salvation. He learned to play the guitar from his father at a young age and had a passion for listening and playing Bluegrass and Gospel music with his family and friends.
He traveled miles of highways through many states while he operated a tractor trailer ‘Big Rig’ and carried much cargo from state to state for many years. He nicknamed himself ‘wrooster’, shortened for the White Rooster, after the cartoon character, Leghorn Foghorn. The routine highway travelers have their own means of communication and CB talk was like a second nature to ‘wrooster’. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Although David’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing and forever shine brightly in our heart, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all we do. We can choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.
