Merlina Anna De Verteuil, age 65, of Lexington, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Hospice of Davidson County, Hinkle Hospice House. Born on December 7, 1958 in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Ruiz and Sylvia Ruiz.
Merlina loved life; family was always important to her. She loved and cherished her children. She had a passion for music, dancing, planting flowers, gardening and truly enjoyed being happy.
Merlina was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Sylvia Ruiz. Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 48 years, Romel De Verteuil; her sons, Nicholas De Verteuil and his wife, Ashley, and Ronell De Verteuil and his wife, Christina; grandchildren, Nathaniel De Verteuil, and Noemi De Verteuil; sisters, Donna and Sophia; and brothers, Simon, Michael, Brian, and Stanley.
A Celebration to honor her memory will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Saturday afternoon, March 30, 2024, at Nicholson Funerals & Cremations, Thomasville Chapel. Nicholson Funerals & Cremation, Thomasville Chapel has the honor of serving the family.
