Mary Coffey

Mary Ruth Coffey, 88 of Statesville, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, following a period of declining health.
Mary was born November 11, 1933, in Newland, NC and was the daughter of Baxter Ollis and Maude Stamey Ollis. She married the late Howard Coffey in 1953, and raised two sons, Michael, and Tony Coffey. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Ray, Lee, Glenn, Herman, John Guy and Paul Ollis along with two sisters, Flo Simmons and Dorothy Brawley.
Mary worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital for many years and loved working there. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Michael Coffey and Tony Coffey and his wife Betsy, and a sister, Tot Earley. She also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she loved them all!
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Lynn Kunkle officiating. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Her burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625. Nicholson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Coffey family.
