Kevin Lamar Smith, born on July 30, 1970, in Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home at High Point on September 4, 2026, at the age of 56.
Kevin was the beloved son of the late Merrill Dean Smith and Vivian Jane Hewitt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kyle Smith. He grew up with a strong foundation of faith and family, accepting Christ as his Savior early in life.
Kevin pursued his education at Randolph County Community College in Asheboro, North Carolina. His life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for cooking, his love for working in the yard, and his gift for making people laugh. His warm spirit and infectious humor brought joy to all who knew him.
He is survived by his cherished children: Chelsey Marie Smith, Tyler Lamar Calvin Smith, and Carl Jeremiah Lynn Smith. He leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Nathan M. Smith and Elijah D. Smith, as well as his son-in-law and daughters-in-law, Malcolm McMillan, Maggie Smith, and Sesilia Gordillo. Kevin is also survived by his brother, David Smith, and nephews Casey and Christopher, along with many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Though there are no formal services planned at this time, the family invites those who wish to honor Kevin’s memory to make memorial donations to Hospice of the Piedmont, an organization that provided him with compassionate care in his final days.
Kevin's legacy of love, laughter, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
