Kenneth Coy Byerly, age 83, of Thomasville passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Hospice of Davidson County-Hinkle Hospice House. He was born on September 28, 1940, to the late Coy (Robert) and Melva Byerly. Ken served his country in the United States Navy.
He then spent the next years working as a service technician in the printing industry, and wood working. Ken was a member of the Fairgrove Fire Department for 40 years. After retirement, he spent many hours crafting wood and was very proud of everything he created. Ken and his late wife, Peggy loved traveling and fellowshipping with friends, and their church family.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Thomas Byerly; stepdaughter, Debbie Rickard; and brothers, Grady Byerly and Wayne Byerly. Left to cherish his memory include his children, Kay (Lee) Hornady, and Brandon (Terri) Byerly; stepchildren, Pam Oetinger and Steve Arnold; grandchildren, Melissa (Randy) Conrad, Jessica (Preston) Lee, and Sydney (Secoyah) Lindsay; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one great-great grandchild "on the way;" brother, Dolan Byerly (Nancy); brother-in-law, John Charles Thomas (Ruth); and several sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday morning, February 17, 2024, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Thomasville. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery. Mr. Byerly will lie in state from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Friday, February 16, 2024, at Nicholson Funerals & Cremations, Thomasville Chapel for those who wish to pay their respects.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. Nicholson Funerals & Cremations, Thomasville Chapel has the honor of serving the family.
