James Gilbert (Jimmy) Cox, 68 of Thomasville, died January 13, 2024, at Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County.
Born in Stokes County on February 2, 1955, he was a son of the late James D. Cox and Annie Ruth Lawson Cox. He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Don Hill, a brother, Billy Cox and sisters, Debbie Cox and Sandy New.
He was a plant supervisor for Dillard Plastics and Clearview. He enjoyed NASCAR, football, college basketball, especially the Tarheels, fishing and had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to make people laugh, and was happiest when he was the center of entertainment. He also served in the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Everhart, a son, Jimmy Cox (Ava), daughter, Crystal Biscoe (Cory), stepdaughters, Annette Rogers (Jeff), Candy Humphries (Chad), Angela Rook (Rodney), and Wendy Parson (Scott). He is also survived by sisters, Rita Brinkley (Doug) and Martha Ali (Mir), grandchild, Riley Cox and bonus grandchildren, Jamie Loggins, Ashley Scott, Anna Humphries and Chad Humphries. Additional survivors include a sister-in-law, Annette Nobles, a brother-in-law, Charles New, nieces Tanya Draughn (Ricky), Rehanna Ali and Charlene Perez, nephews, Alan Brinkley (Nicole), Shawn Ali and Jessie New, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members.
There will be no formal services held. Memorial donations to help with funeral costs may be sent to Jimmy Cox, 3471 E. Holly Grove Rd., Lexington, NC 27292.
