Gordon Wade Sell passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 76, at Guilford Health Care Center in Greensboro, NC. Born on March 8, 1949, in Davidson County, NC, he was the cherished son of the late Carl W. and Mace Lena Weavil Sell.
Wade received his formal education at Wallburg Elementary and Ledford High School in Davidson County, NC. He went on to build a career as a mechanic with Parker Used Auto Parts before becoming a long-distance truck driver, a role that fueled his love for travel and adventure.
On September 27, 1984, Wade and Judy were married by the late Rev. Banks Shepherd in Midway, NC, and were married for 40 years. In the later years of his life, Wade accepted Christ as his Savior and became a Born Again Believer, dedicating himself to sharing his faith and experiences with others. He was an active attendee of Promise Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC, where he found a spiritual home and community.
Wade's passion for RVing and traveling was well known among his family and friends. He delighted in recounting tales of his adventures, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Sell; his stepson, Dwayne Lambeth and wife Kim; three grandchildren, Will Lambeth, Kendall Dodds and husband Jacob, and Wes Lambeth and wife Alexis; and two great-grandchildren, Kyler and Eliya. He is also survived by his sisters, Janice Owens and husband Richard of Wallburg, and Louise Hudson and husband Steve of Asheville; his niece, Debbie Delapp and husband Scott of Kernersville; and special family members Pastor David W. Hedrick and wife Annette of Welcome, Pamela Long and husband Christian of Wallburg, Carrie Mabe and husband John of Wallburg, and Debbie Hedrick of Thomasville.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents; his nephew, Gary Richard Owens of Linwood, NC; and his late friend, Reid Hedrick.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Wade's life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Promise Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Promise Baptist Church, 11 Maiden Park Dr, Thomasville, NC 27360.
Wade's warmth, humor, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
