Elsie Wilson Holthouser, 85, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 26, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Holthouser was born May 15, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Clay Harrington Wilson and Emma Clyde Gibson Wilson. She was a graduate of Scotts High School and was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ. Mrs. Holthouser was married to Marvin Eugene Holthouser, who preceded her in death on April 7, 1982. She was a farmer's wife and a homemaker. She enjoyed going to the Elder Center on Davie Ave for six years and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 65 years. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Holthouser was also preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Jean Holthouser and Kita Renee Holthouser Overcash. Mrs. Holthouser is survived by three sons, Tim Holthouser (Susan), Harvey Holthouser, and Harry Holthouser, all of Statesville, and one daughter, Nita H. Gorentz (Joe), also of Statesville; two sisters, Julia W. Cloaninger of Statesville and Louise W. Henry of California; one brother, John Clay Wilson. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Abilene Church of Christ with Mr. Steve Short officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elder Center of Statesville.
