Edward "Ed" LeRoy Hower, Sr.

Thomasville

Edward ”Ed” L Hower Sr. loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, age 79, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at his home in Thomasville surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on September 19, 1944, in Oil City, PA.

Ed is survived by his wife of 36 years Elizabeth Hower; beloved daughter, Samantha Hower; son. Edward (Eddy) Hower Jr.; bonus children, Charlie Holder (Donnie), Kimberly Porter (Matt), Johnathan Lanning, and Duane Foote (Chrystal); brothers, Clifford Hower (Bobbi), Michael Cyphert (Janet); mother in-law, Nancie Wargo; father in-law, John Fisher (Sandra); sisters-in-law, Johnnie Bell (Raymond), and Jill McPherson; brothers-in-law, Junie Lanning, and Johnny Fisher (Diana); many special nephews, and nieces; and his beloved pets, Maggie, Nutmeg, Lacy, and Bella; grand-puppy, Jaxson (Jack) Hower; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by parents, father, Merle J. Hower and mother, Isabelle A. Cyphert (John); daughter, Teri Lynn Hower; father in-law Jimmy Wargo; sisters, Margaret Stiller, and Shirley Corle; and cherished family friend/son, Steven Gathings.

Ed loved the beach, spending time with his family and had a very special love for his pets. He never met a stranger and loved to pick and joke with everyone he knew. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Madison Heights Free Will Baptist Church, located at 214 Andrew Sink Rd, Lexington, NC 27295 with Pastor David Robinson officiating. The family would also like to invite people for an optional visitation with the family starting at 4:30 pm with the Memorial Service beginning at 5:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Hospice of Davidson County c/o Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Davidson County and Nicholson Funerals & Cremations, Thomasville Chapel for the care and support they have provided.
