Douglas Franklin McLain, 46, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Davis Regional Medical Center. Mr. McLain was born August 14, 1964 in Iredell County and was the son of Bonnie Sharpe McLain and the late Clyde Franklin McLain. He attended Iredell County schools and on August 17, 1983, he married Debbie Duncan McLain, who survives of the home. Mr. McLain was disability retired and was former owner operator of McLain's Auto Glass. He was a member of Horizon Church where he was the sound technician and played lead guitar on the worship team. He also served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his father, Mr. McLain was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Arthor L. Duncan. Along with his wife, Debbie D. McLain and mother, Bonnie S. McLain of Statesville, Mr. McLain is also survived by two sons, Joshua F. McLain (Jennifer) of Hickory, N.C. and Dylan McLain of the home; one daughter, Jennifer McLain Bailey (Daniel) of Salisbury. He is also survived by one grandson, Jaxson F. McLain of Hickory; one sister, Peggy M. Lambert (Ray) of Statesville; brother, Keith E. McLain (Rhonda) of Statesville; mother-in-law, Betty D. Southard (Ramon) of Harmony along with numerous nieces, nephews, and sister-in-laws. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Peoples Baptist Church, formerly Cochran Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles Williams officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at a later date in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
