Carolyn Myers

Carolyn Shook Myers, 71, of Statesville, was lifted home on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital, having fought a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Iredell County on December 22, 1939 to the late Oscar and Violet Pierce Shook. She was educated in Iredell County Schools and was disability retired from Intercraft Ind. She was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Oscar Ray Shook and a niece, Sandy Goodman. Mrs. Myers is survived by one daughter, Kathy H. Stroud (Roger) of Stony Point, N.C., one sister, Mary S. Goodman of Ocean Isle, N.C., grandchildren, Crystal Young (David) and J.R. Hensley (Cassie), both of Waynesville, N.C. She is also survived by one niece, three nephews, and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, March 10, 2011, at Diamond Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family will assemble other times at the home of Mrs. Myers, 108 Fraley Road, Statesville.
