Mrs. Betty Neal Brown, 69, of Hwy 70 E. Statesville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 3, 2011. Mrs. Brown was born July 8, 1941 and was the daughter of the late James Elbert Neal and Ida Tilda Campbell Neal. She was a graduate of Scotts High School Class of 1960. She began her cosmetology future by attending Career Beauty College. Betty was owner and operator of Forest Heights Beauty Salon for a number of years and retired in 2005. She was a member of Southview Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, was in charge of all floral arrangements for the church during the year and was a tireless worker for the church. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry C. Brown of the home. She is also survived by one son, Jerry Mark Brown of Bayboro, N.C.; one grandson, Jacob Andrew Kummer of Statesville; one brother, Elbert Lee Neal of Statesville and one sister, Linda Jean Harris of Taylorsville. Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be conducted 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Southview Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Wagner and Rev. J.C. Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends this evening from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be David Brown, Robert Dezern, Mike Bess, Charles Neal, Wesley Dezern, and Roby Dezern.
